I’ve recently done up a mockup of a website and well for content I made use of some simple php functions to create lists and so on so that my code for forms wasn’t completely bloated …

Now there were about 15 or so pages and I don’t think your standard save page will copy it all that nicely for you … maybe I’m wrong …

Anyways enter the HTTrack … and offline browser … I’ve used various versions over the year though it would be about 2 – 3 years since I’ve used it.

Problem solved … apart from the forms which still wanted to go to the php pages for submission and quick multipage search replace and I was up and running … zip it up with my favorite zip tool 7 Zip and bob’s your uncle … or er your Teddy bear … depending

Friday saw me looking for an ImageMap tool … I was asked how difficult it would be to create clickable regions on a map. I said not that difficult but time consuming and time consuming it is mapping out all the points and coordinates as well as tracing the map out to begin with to get it to a point where I can use it on the page.

I posted a question over on boards.ie and after some initial suspicions about why I asked for “free” software I ended up getting some good responses.

I tried out various software meantime. MapEdit (shareware) being one of them … and I ended up deciding to use GeoHTML GeoHTML on a russian website which I immediately go ARGH! over but anyways it works well not the greatest ever.

Afterwards I suddenly though .. can Dreamweaver create imagemaps .. the answer short and simple is yes it can. But I can’t test that out without downloading as I’ll have to get the trial and can’t be bothered at the moment.

Then I was told that ImageReady can do it I tried it out and my god its exactly what I need.

So in short … if you need a free ImageMap tool try out GeoHTML if you have PhotoShop then you’ve got ImageReady and the Zoom feature is a major plus as you can zoom in and you can move your points around loads.
