So far I’m happy with my new hosting provider

One of my websites on my old hosting provider:

$ping forbairt.com

Pinging forbairt.com [66.33.213.36] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 66.33.213.36: bytes=32 time=192ms TTL=51
Reply from 66.33.213.36: bytes=32 time=196ms TTL=51
Reply from 66.33.213.36: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=51
Reply from 66.33.213.36: bytes=32 time=195ms TTL=51

Ping statistics for 66.33.213.36:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 192ms, Maximum = 196ms, Average = 194ms

And on my new hosting provider:

$ping iacceptcookies.com

Pinging iacceptcookies.com [81.17.252.110] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 81.17.252.110: bytes=32 time=66ms TTL=52
Reply from 81.17.252.110: bytes=32 time=56ms TTL=52
Reply from 81.17.252.110: bytes=32 time=58ms TTL=52
Reply from 81.17.252.110: bytes=32 time=56ms TTL=52

Ping statistics for 81.17.252.110:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 56ms, Maximum = 66ms, Average = 59ms

You can see the difference between the two sites:

Forbairt Average – 194ms

IAcceptCookies Average – 59ms

Thats a huge difference and I must admit I really notice the difference everything runs just that little bit faster.

Support has also been a blessing being in the same time zone meant this morning at 9:15 or so I received a response to my query I’d submitted late last night. They responded .. I responded and so on and it was sorted out in about half an hour.

So now all thats left to do is move the rest of my sites across.
Its been a good day

    Hopefully we’ll be peering with your ISP at some point which would give you better pings than what you are currently getting.

    For example, my magnet DSL at home gives me:
    PING iacceptcookies.com (81.17.252.110) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from ragnell.blacknight.ie (81.17.252.110): icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=23.1 ms
    64 bytes from ragnell.blacknight.ie (81.17.252.110): icmp_seq=2 ttl=55 time=24.1 ms
    64 bytes from ragnell.blacknight.ie (81.17.252.110): icmp_seq=3 ttl=55 time=23.3 ms

    As our network peers with Magnet’s over INEX (http://www.inex.ie)

    Regards

    That’d be good :) but not critical … getting sub 100ms responses is good for me. The majority of my traffic will be Irish and not necessarily from my ISP

    That said … the more Irish ISP’s ye peer with the better it’ll be :)
