orkut… or not to orkut…

It looks like orkut has had a make over http://en.blog.orkut.com/ but I can’t help but wonder if its too little too late.
I scanned through some of the forums and they have the feel of a heavily hacked website with all the spam that they contain. One of the problems at the start with orkut was the lack of moderation that users had over their forums. People could grab forums change languages and heavily spam them. I wonder if they’ll actually think to weed out some of the forums. Posts about check out my website / get trained here … and so on … only make the whole thing feel very amateur.
Only time will tell … it’ll be interesting to see if it picks up any. Most of the friends I had on there have moved on to other forums / social networks and I can’t blame them.
Currently facebook feels nice … but will it turn out to eventually be just another social network we all remember
